Clear braces

Benefit from the precision and dramatic results of fixed braces without worrying about how they look when you smile.

Clear braces are similar to conventional braces, except the brackets are made from a clear material which blends in with the natural colour of your teeth. This makes them less visible than more traditional treatment and is often a popular choice with adults.

These near invisible braces are available for teenagers and adults. The strong, clear material means they are more durable than other discreet braces and, because they are fixed in place, you don’t have to worry about taking them out for eating or remembering to put them back in afterwards. They can be used to correct more serious misalignment and bite issues that can’t be addressed as effectively with removable aligners.

What does the treatment involve?

  • We start your orthodontic treatment by taking 3D scans of your teeth. These replace the need to use messy alginate moulds – often the worst bit of the whole process.
  • When we fit your brace, we clean and dry your teeth, then stick the brackets onto your teeth with a strong dental adhesive. The wires are then attached to these brackets.
  • We usually arrange appointments at 6-10 week intervals, to make adjustments to the brace and to ensure your teeth are moving as efficiently as possible.
  • Every case is different, but in most cases, the treatment lasts between 12 – 24 months.

Some people can experience a little discomfort during orthodontic treatment, particularly in the first few days after fitting or following a tightening appointment. Paracetamol or ibuprofen can ease any soreness and it will help to stick to a soft diet during this time.

Once the braces come off, we arrange to have a retainer fitted. Your retainer will prevent your teeth from moving back into their old position.
