Sports Mouthguards

We can use the same techniques that we use for braces to create sports mouthguards.

Our 3D scanner can take impressions that can then be used to make custom-made mouthguards. These can then be worn to protect your teeth and mouth when participating in any contact sports. We use Arch Form Byte to create hard-wearing and reliable guards to keep your child’s mouth safe.

What if I have braces?

If you have a mouthguard already, it won’t fit properly over your braces and teeth. We can create mouthguards that will fit over your braces. We take scans of your mouth so we can make sure the mouthguard provides suitable protection.

Why have a custom-made mouthguard?

While many sportswear providers offer mouthguards, these boil-and-bite guards don’t offer the same level of protection as a professionally made mouthguard. Custom-made mouthguards have a superior fit and won’t shift and move around. As they are made from a tougher acrylic, they can withstand greater impact.

What is involved in having a mouthguard made?

It takes two appointments for us to make a mouthguard. During the first appointment, we take digital 3D scans of your mouth. These scans can then be instantly sent to the laboratory where the mouthguard is made.

Once we receive the mouthguard, we arrange for the second appointment. We will check the fit, making sure there is no discomfort.

Looking after your mouthguard

After use, you should rinse your mouthguard with water. Make sure you don’t use hot water as it could affect the shape. We can have your name printed on the mouthguard to help if it is ever misplaced.

For younger mouths, it is necessary to replace the mouthguard as your mouth grows and your adult teeth grow through.
